Presented by: Jack Chen, Michael Cush, Barbara CampbellJack Chen will share his story and how he has spent the past several years researching and identifying success factors including daily living, mobility, assistive technology, problem solving and athletic abilities to combat negative stereotypes held by employers and excel as a person with disability. The VRI audience will experience a special fully audio described viewing of the movie Surpassing Sight , which features Jack and others who successfully navigated the challenging bicycle Race Across America.Highlighting the capabilities of blind people, the film is one aspect of the work ahead to drive the unemployment rate in the blind community from seventy percent to seven percent and lower. A panel discussion, including Jack Chen, Michael Cush (Chief Program Officer at VISIONS Services for the Blind), and Barbara Campbell (NYS Commission for the Blind Senior VR counselor) will follow. |
