Module Abstract: This module discusses assistive technology (AT) tools and strategies for the Expanded Core Curriculum. In addition to academic areas, learners with visual impairments may be in need of structured instructions in braille, daily living skills, leisure and sports or AT. In most cases, teachers who provide direct services to these learners will need specialized tools to prepare or adapt the necessary teaching and learning tools. Learning Objectives: 1. Name all components of the Expanded Core Curriculum. 2. Identify non-academic areas where AT for learners with visual impairments will be helpful. 3. List and understand tools that teachers of the visually impaired (TVIs) and classroom teachers will require to ensure accessible instruction. 4. Describe the direct connection between mobility skills and academic success. |
