Hand-Over-Hand is often used with students to engage them in activities throughout the school day. The use of this technique is adult driven and can overestimate the student s performance in achieving goals and objectives. Hand-Under-Hand involves an invitation for students to engage in activities and provides a clearer picture of the student s performance. The hand-under-hand technique provides respectful, tactile support to encourage children to interact and communicate. This session will explore what is Hand-Over-Hand, the why and opportunities to practice. Teaching implications and challenges in implementation will be discussed as well. |
