Now everyone has GPS running on a smart phone in theirpocket. Unfortunately, GPS signals are blocked inside buildings and indoor maps are marginallyavailable, leaving people who are blind without navigation options other than sighted assistanceonce they arrive at the door of a building.The 25-year elusive quest to provide reliable accurate indoor wayfinding is finally becoming arealitywith today s indoor navigation technologies. From basic orientation to step-by-stepdirections, indoor navigation technology is giving people who are blind or visually impaired themeans to discover and explore the built environment confidently and independently.
