Description of CE Program/Activity
Title: Getting in Charge of Getting Around: Practical Application to Start Today Part 2Date: June 21Time (stated in Eastern Time): 7:30 ESTDuration: 30 minDescription: Obtaining a drivers license is a recognized symbol of independence for young adults in this nation. When your child is making the decision to learn to drive or not you can start today different skills and activities to help promote independent travel skills. Developing positive self-esteem as an active traveler and recognizing the inner satisfaction of gaining personal independence are larger goals within instruction. This presentation draws from the curriculum Finding Wheels (Corn & Rosenblum, 2020) and personal experience in accessing transportation as an active traveler. We will continue to learn what families and professionals can do to support students to develop independent traveler skills.Where will the Recording go?Youtube Playlist YESProfessional Communities YESHive CourseInstructors (Repeat as needed)Name: Cindy BachoferTitle: TSBVI Low Vision ConsultantAffiliation: TSBVIEmail: bachoferc@tsbvi.eduName: Kathi GarzaTitle: TVIAffiliation: TSBVIEmail: garzak@txbvi.eduContent Information:Primary Core or ECC Area: O&M, Independent LivingTarget Audience: Parents, Families and ProfessionalsPre-requisite knowledge: None Lesson Plan Goal: To understand different activities and ways to promote skills that a young adult needs when it comes to non-driving transportation.
