Working with adults and juveniles who have committed sexually based offenses can bechallenging. This scope of work requires an understanding of how Colorado classifies,supervises, and treats such clients, and it requires us as professionals to be able to care forourselves. This training will provide an overview of providing therapy to, and working with, thispopulation. Additional relevant information forhelping these clients succeed in the community,how to make mandatory reports, and self-care when we work with people who have hurt otherpeople. Objectives of this training include: Brief history of Colorado Sex Offender Management Board (SOMB) Basics of sex offense specific treatment and risk assessment How to support these clients in finding employment When and why to make mandatory reports Self-care when working with people who have offended against other people Examples of types of crimes/case presentations to increase participants understandingabout risk factors, red flags, and how these clients can live an abuse-free life |
