This presentation will be comprised of representatives from dog guide schools, dog handlers and an Orientation and Mobility Specialist. They will discuss the different training programs, guide dog rights, the difference between guide dogs and emotional support animals and the unique relationship between a dog and its handler. A certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist will discuss how orientation and mobility plays a role in successful guide dog teams. Attendees will learn what independent travel skills are needed to become eligible for a guide dog, and how an O&M specialist supports guide dog applicants during the application process and once they welcome a guide dog home. |
