Providing and creating learning opportunities for students who require assistive technology to participate can be overwhelming. For some students, determining what is needed and in what combination is a journey that involves a myriad of adults, equipment, technology, accommodated learning experiences, and more. When AT is determined to be necessary, access to that technology frequently takes precedence, but in actuality technology is a tool within the activity of learning. This professional learning experience will provide assistive technology providers with strategies, resources, and evidence-based practices including identification of equipment for accessing digital technology and AAC devices, as well as equipment and environments needed for supporting the student s engagement in every activity during the school day. Strategies and tools to support various academic areas, access to learning, and professional learning will be explored over the course of the workshop. Learning experiences will include opportunities for small group breakout sessions where teams will be able to develop a range of resources to use and share. |
