World Services for the Blind is proud to offer Teachers of the Visually Impaired an opportunity to brush up their skills in the area of Assistive Technology. This 4-week course will provide TVIs the opportunity to learn about common assistive technology solutions and how to integrate those solutions into their classroom. Course participants will receive training in the use of JAWS, ZoomText, and NVDA, with special focus on troubleshooting, help topics, and customization settings. Participants will learn how to use applications such as Microsoft Office and web browsers with the support of these screen readers and magnification software. This course features a week of training in the use of ChromeVox, the built-in screen reader for ChromeBooks. This training will include the use of the Google Suite of applications, such as Docs, Sheets, Drive, and Pages. Finally, participants can look forward to training on the use of iDevices and refreshable Braille displays. After completing this course, participants will feel more comfortable using these assistive technology solutions in their classroom. |
