Description of CE Program/Activity
 Two, one hour courses will be presented at this event: Driving with a Visual Impairment. Vision is responsible for 95% of driving related inputs. This course reviews current research, testing, adaptive techniques and laws for driving with a visual impairment. Instruction Level: Intermediate; Prerequisites: None Learning Objectives: 1. Review current research on driving with a visual impairment. 2. Characterize the visual skills needed for driving and how they are tested. 3. Analyze various bioptic telescopes for driving. 4. Compare state driving laws.Review of Diabetic Retinopathy. Diabetes is a chronic health condition that affects how your body utilizes glucose. In diabetes, the body either doesn t make insulin or cannot use as well as it should. This results in elevated blood sugar levels. Elevated blood glucose levels damage the small blood vessels throughout the body resulting in Retinopathy, Neuropathy and Nephropathy. Instruction Level: Intermediate; Prerequisites: None Learning Objectives: 1. Review definitions of diabetes. 2. Define blood sugar testing. 3. Characterize diabetic retinopathy. 4. Compare treatment options.
