 Thursday, December 8: 9:00 am 4:00 pm What is Our Current Understanding of CVI, the Perkins CVI Protocol & CVI and the IEPEllen Mazel, M.Ed, CTVIEllen has over 40 years of expertise in the field of visual impairments, multiple disabilities, deafblindness, CVI, early intervention and transition. She leads Perkins Center for Excellence in Cortical Visual Impairment / Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI). The CVI Center has developed a new CVI assessment tool which Ellen will introduce.Friday, December 9: 9:00 am 3:30 pmBest Practice Assessment and Intervention Strategies for Students with CVI & CVI Considerations for Communication using the AAC/CVI Matrix Christopher Russell, MS, Ed., TVI Chris has extensive experience in the classroom as a Teacher of the Blind/Visually Impaired (TVI), working with children with varying degrees of visual impairment and additional disabilities, including deafblindness. Chris presents extensively on CVI and developed the AAC/CVI Matrix, a tool that helps guide communication considerations for students with CVI. Chris was the coordinator of the New York Deafblind Collaborative until this school year when he accepted a position with the NYC Department of Education s Hospital Schools.
