This presentation will focus on the criterial and clinical guidelines for performing Orientation and Mobility (O&M) training via virtual care. For the purpose of this training O&M training refers to the training of Veterans and Service members with visual impairment to utilize their remaining senses, to determine their position in their environment, and to negotiate safe movement from one place to another. Telehealth modalities refers to technological methods utilized to provide clinical care in circumstances where distance separates the Veteran/Service member and the Blind Rehabilitation Specialist (BRS). Telehealth examples include, but are not limited to, Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT), and Home Telehealth. All participants will gain knowledge of the BRS home safety pre-screenings, assessments to include SMART goals, training via telehealth, device training/issuance, family support and virtual teaching experiences from our staff. |
