Description of CE Program/Activity
As blind and low vision students prepare for transitioning to work and college after graduating high school, meaningful collaborative relationships between educators and families are a critical component of culturally responsive education. This webinar will explore establishing and sustaining equitable collaborative relationships with Individual Education Program (IEP) teams among Indigenous communities. Strategies will focus on how educators and parents can empower blind and low vision K-12 Indigenous students to pursue their employment and higher education goals and self-determined futures. Objectives: 1. Participants will identify a minimum of 4 principles of Indigenous ways, knowing, and being to establish equitable relationships. 2. Participants will learn how to engage and work with parents and blind and low vision students using culturally responsive and research-based practices. 3. Participants will identity a minimum of 4 Indigenous community-based resources to support student transition.
