Description of CE Program/Activity
 Title of the Lesson/Activity: Starting Physical Activity Programs including Camp Abilities Date: October 20th Time (Eastern): Duration: 1 hour starting at 7pm Description: Youth with visual impairments must learn how to be actively involved in physical activity, recreation, and sports to live a self-determined life. In order to learn what they need and to advocate for themselves they would benefit from starting with a specific program for youth with visual impairments. There are very few physical activity programs developed specifically for youth with visual impairments. This presentation will share the steps one must take to start a one-day program to a one-week program. Participants will be provided with a variety of resources to ensure success Instructor: Lauren Lieberman Instructor s Title: Distinguished Professor Instructor s Affiliation: SUNY Brockport Primary Core or ECC Area: Recreation, Socialization, Self-Determination, Orientation and Mobility, Independent Living Skills, Sensory Efficiency, Career Awareness Target Audience: TVI s, O & M s, paraeducators, therapists, APE teachers, parents Pre-requisite knowledge: None required Materials Needed: None Lesson Plan Goal: The purpose of this talk is to inform the audience on effectively a variety of ways to establish physical activity programs. Participants will plan out a program for day to a full week, one sport or multi sports, winter or summer, and any variety of sports and recreation activities. A wide variety of resources will be provided. Learning Objectives: Understand the various needs of youth with visual impairments when it comes to physical activity programming Know the various Paralympic and after school sports, recreational activities, outdoor adventure, and fitness activities that are possible Learn the modifications that can be provided in order to promote success Be able to plan the
