To teach them about the four components of self-advocacy. Also, to teach them the five steps in self-advocacy and how they can teach them in all areas. Many examples will be given. Lastly, provide a variety of resources including books, articles, web sites, and videos that promote self-advocacy for youth with VI. Learning Objectives: -Identify the importance of self-advocacy for youth with visual impairment.-Demonstrate the knowledge of how to teach self-advocacy in a variety of subject areas.-List a variety ways to teach self-advocacy and practice the skill with relevant stake holders.-State how to access resources to educate youth with visual impairments and their parents and teachers about self-advocacy.
