Description: An introduction to The Dignity of Risk and Self-Advocacy. Research has shown that students with visual impairment have a low level of self-determination. Students with visual impairment are also not always permitted to participate in typical programming with their sighted peers. In this workshop, the leaders will: review current research related to self-determination and choice. They will define Dignity of Risk; define Self Advocacy; explain the four major components of Self Advocacy; apply Self-Advocacy to the Dignity of Risk. The workshop will be interactive and informative.
