 Online Registration can be found at https://www.leaderdog.org/programs/professional-and-university-opportunities/professional-om-seminar/The seminar is open to any certified orientation and mobility specialist interested in learning more about guide dog work, GPS, specialized O&M techniques and Leader Dog s Deaf-Blind Program.Leader Dogs for the Blind s campus is located in Rochester Hills, MI. Applicants are responsible for their own transportation to and from Leader Dog. Participants will enjoy accommodations in Leader Dog s Polk Residence Center with meals in our dining hall. Leader Dog will provide transportation to training locations during the event.The seminar is designed to be hands on and requires some background knowledge. Prior to the event, we ask that you complete the following presentations from our Virtual Learning page as the seminar will build on the skills and knowledge shared there. Completion of these virtual courses earns the participant 2.5 ACVREP CEUs:

Description of CE Program/Activity
 Participants will learn more about specialized O&M techniques, GPS, guide dogs and how you can help your clients become guide dog ready. Get hands-on experience with orientation aids, Deaf-Blind simulations, guide dog practice and more. Time will be provided for Q&A, group discussion, networking and several added activities to enhance your learning experience. While staying on the Leader Dog campus in the Polk Residence Center, Participants will gain in depth knowledgeof guide dog development, requirements and training, guide dog readiness and admissions process, incorporatinglocation technology and best practices. They will learn about working with Deaf-Blind clients, observe guide doginstruction, Juno, advanced street crossing and problem solving and practice the optimal procedures to patterndogs to difficult travel environments, human guide techniques when attempting to orient guide dog users to newenvironment, dogs and doors, and stairs. Events will involve discussion and hands-on instruction dealing with selffamiliarization to new environments making use of the long cane and the guide dog. Establishing landmarks andalternative routes when traveling difficult environments as well as in-depth discussion of initial adjustment at home.Time will be provided for questions and discussion with COMS and GDMIs.
