Instructor: Kyle DeJute Instructor s Title: Braille Trainer Instructor s Affiliation: American Printing House for the Blind Instructor s Email: kdejute@aph.org Primary Core or ECC Area: Compensatory Skills (specifically, braille) Target Audience: transcribers, teachers of the visually impaired, paraprofessionals who know braille, prison braille groups Pre-requisite knowledge: at least basic braille knowledge, completion of at least a braille 101 course is a plus Lesson Plan Goal: Set up participants with basic knowledge of how UEB Math/Science works and get them familiar with resources related to the code so that they can produce braille materials more accurately and develop their expertise effectively Learning Objectives: 1) Explain that UEB Math/Science (aka UEB Technical) is *not* separate from UEB, 2) remember existence of line through previous item indicator in UEB and explain that one such indicator can apply to a multi-digit number, 3) remember APH s Math Symbol Reference Booklets and how they can be used to look up symbols with examples Materials Needed: |
