 Description: Do you know the concepts that make electronic braille (that is, braille that s not on paper) possible? After attending this webinar, you will have a deep understanding of electronic braille. Then you can better troubleshoot any issue related to braille and electronic access for blind and for sighted users. You ll also be able to make a really lovely email signature. Instructor: Kyle DeJute Instructor s Title: Braille Trainer Instructor s Affiliation: American Printing House for the Blind Instructor s Email: kdejute@aph.org Instructor: William Freeman Instructor s Title: Product Manager Instructor s Affiliation: American Printing House for the Blind Instructor s Email: wfreeman@aph.org Primary Core or ECC Area: Compensatory Skills (specifically, braille) and Assistive Technology Target Audience: transcribers, teachers of the visually impaired, paraprofessionals who know braille, prison braille groups, anyone who works with braille or a braille user Pre-requisite knowledge: basic braille knowledge is a plus Lesson Plan Goal: explain concepts that help participants to describe and imagine solutions for problems around sharing and accessing braille electronically Learning Objectives: 1) explain that specific braille cells correspond to print characters via braille ASCII, 2) define braille font or simulated braille font, 3) define smart quotes, 4) explain how braille font application is different from print-to-braille transcription, 5) describe one method for opening a BRF Materials Needed: None
