This 2-hour educational course offered practical strategies and techniques for teaching independent living skills (ILS) to students with visual impairments. Participants were provided strategies to work with parents/guardians and students to prioritize ILS goals, develop learning activities, and access instructional resources and equipment to best facilitate learning of ILS content. The course addressed the instructional areas of organizational skills and personal management skills and provided participants the opportunity to discuss current practices, challenges, and strategies for integrating ILS instruction during scheduled lessons in small breakout discussions. |
