This presentation examines ways principles of self-determination relate to the healthy acquisition of self-esteem and self-concept, particularly regarding the development of voice, personal autonomy, and consent. Attendees should leave with ideas and resources of how to support and nurture self-esteem at various developmental phases, including ways to create a dialogue of consent in everyday interactions. Learning objectives: 1. Understanding the differences between self-concept and self-esteem and how they relate to self-determination2. Understand the idea of consent and how it relates to everyday life, not just sex and sexuality.3. Identify ways to support the development of positive self-identity, self-expression, and self-determination. 4.
