Description of CE Program/Activity
Providing an appropriate education to a child with a Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) requires the team to take an in-depth look at what that individual child needs. We will take you through the educational process from assessment to interventions including monitoring progress. With our system you can utilize all necessary evaluations (The CVI Range, Functional Vision Evaluation, Learning Media Assessments, and Orientation and Mobility evaluations). Next, accommodations are not a one size fits all, making finding the right method to provide access complex. We will explore our library of more than 100 activities that address reduced complexity, teaching salient features, and utilize comparative language. Participants will learn how they can utilize activities for CVI Phases I, II, and III both at home and at school to ensure consistency for the student. Do you have ideas for accessible materials for your student but are unsure how to put it all together? We will demonstrate how you can use our activities designer. Lastly, as with any strategy, professionals should gather and review data to ensure progress is being made. CViConnect has utilized the iPad to collect and organize this data for you. Together we will review sample data sets collected by CViConnect. CViConnect was created by teachers to increase accessibility to the curriculum for students with a cortical visual impairment. Join us to discover how using this system can increase the efficiency of professionals who support the dynamic needs of students with CVI. Following the presentation, attendees will be able to score and monitor a student using The CVI Range on CViConnects online platform, create and assign activities on CViConnect that are the right fit for a given student, and review data for a given student based on how the child interacts with the CViConnect activity.
