Description of CE Program/Activity
Students who are deafblind struggle with access to instructional and environmental information. Knowledge of best practice for interactions and close collaboration of the educational team to solve complex questions and needs yield the best outcome for these students. This session will take a surface look at access, the roles of the TVI and teacher of deaf/hard-of-hearing (TODHH) as part of the educational team, and touch on some essential strategies to keep in mind for students who are deafblind whether they are proficient or emerging communicators. Learning objectives: Participants will understand: 1) Impact of multisensory disabilities on access to the educational environment 2) Importance of collaboration as an instructional team 3) Interaction strategies specific to students who are deafblind or have complex needs.
