Description of CE Program/Activity
 Description: As the and final part of the Come back to me, braille! series, we will talk about many of the braille certifications currently available, especially in the United States. We will discuss the configurations of the various braille certification exams as well as details of the courses that lead up to those exams. In addition, we will share resources for braille study. Instructor: Kyle DeJute Instructor s Title: Braille Trainer Instructor s Affiliation: APH (American Printing House for the Blind) Instructor s Email: kdejute@aph.org Instructor: Dawn Eadens Instructor s Title: Digital Textbook File Developer Instructor s Affiliation: APH Instructor s Email: deadens@aph.org Primary Core or ECC Area: Compensatory Skills (specifically, braille) Target Audience: transcribers, teachers of the visually impaired, paraprofessionals who know braille, prison braille groups Pre-requisite knowledge: at least basic braille knowledge, completion of at least a braille 101 course is a plus Lesson Plan Goal: Address common questions and misconceptions about braille certification courses available in the U.S. Learning Objectives: 1) identify braille certifications available and recognized by most employers in the U.S., 2) compare and contrast braille certification programs with specific employment needs 3) identify three or more braille-related professional development organizations that are active in the U.S.
