Description of CE Program/Activity
 This session will* acquaint attendees with the history of community-wide collaborative initiatives aimed at improving the scope and quality of services to older individuals who are blind or visually impaired, with particular emphasis on campaigns to increase federal investment in the Rehabilitation Acts independent living services program for older people with vision loss.* equip attendees with the latest demographic data and most relevant sources of research and analysis defining the size and characteristics of the US population of older people living with vision loss, with specific attention given to strategies for processing and summarily articulating such data and research for various audiences, including policy makers and opinion leaders.* inform attendees of the critical work of the community-wide Aging and Vision Loss National Coalition (AVLNC), the theory of change underpinning and driving the Coalitions mission and objectives, what the primary systems change objectives are and how accomplishment will be measured, and involvement pathways for attendees to pursue who may wish to join in the Coalitions activities to increase public awareness, promote meaningful research, catalogue currently available services and advocate for measures of quality and outcomes, and advocate expanded services at the federal and state levels.
