Description of CE Program/Activity
 Session 1: Finding Wheels: A Tool for Youth and Adults in Their 20s to Build Their Skills as Nondrivers or Potential Low Vision Drivers Learning Objective(s):1. Participants will describe the components of the new Finding Wheels book.2. Participants will list three considerations for travelers for each of these topics: (a) safety, (b) rideshare services, (c) low vision driving, (d) bicycling with low vision, and (e) working with drivers. 3. Participants will explain how they can use Finding Wheels with teens and adults in their 20s with whom they work. Session II: Creating Culturally Responsive Approaches to Teaching: Words of Wisdom for TSVIs and O&MsThe goal of the workshop is to provide an understanding of culturally responsive-sustaining pedagogy (CRP), its benefits and broad applications in literacy learning with culturally and linguistically diverse blind and visually impaired students in grades K-12By the end of the workshops, participants should:1. Have a basic understanding of CRP that includes an awareness of culturally sustaining pedagogy.2. Be able to describe key strategies for incorporating CRP into literacy instruction with blind and visually impaired students.3. Be able to describe key principles for promoting engagement and achievement among culturally and linguistically diverse blind and visually impaired students.4. Have resources to further their understanding of CRPSession III: Reading, Writing, and Self-Regulation: The Importance of Touch, Movement & RelationshipsUpon completion of this session, participants will be able to:1. identify factors that are commonly associated with emotional / attentional dysregulation in blind and visually impaired individuals (eye conditions, experience, trust, neurological functioning).2. perform and teach at least three self-regulation activities with embedded literacy activities that can be used with students who are blind and visually impaired.
