This course is designed to prepare clinicians who have an interest in low vision rehabilitation with simple, practical, and effective strategies to incorporate this discipline within their practice. Objectives: 1. Characterize the public health impact of visual impairment and blindness. 2. Describe the rationale for proper recording of visual acuities and how it affects retinal image size. 3. Predict distance and near magnification required for prescribing optical systems. 4. Identify the unique characteristics of spectacle mounted telescopic systems. 5. Define non-visual factors and considerations when prescribing optical systems. 6. Outline proper diagnosis (ICD-10) and procedure codes (CPT) for billing low vision evaluations to maximize reimbursements. 7. Describe the necessary elements required to initiate referrals to rehabilitation professionals. |
