Three cases highlight the clinical work and research of the instructor related to the provision of inpatient visual neuro-rehabilitation at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston, and related clinical research studies at Massachusetts Eye and Ear and Schepens Eye Research Institute. Course Outcomes: 1. Recognize the clinical features and rehabilitation strategies for dorsal midbrain syndrome. 2. Demonstrate understanding of risk for right eye monocular vision loss in embolic right middle cerebral artery infarction and associated vision rehabilitation strategies. 3. Recognize the indicatons for use of the Magnetic Levator Prosthesis, a new non-surgical treatment of severe blepharoptosis (paralyzed drooping eyelid). |
