This course will overview updates on select inherited retinal conditions, in particular those being treatedwith gene therapy or currently in gene therapy clinical trials, including: Leber congential amaurosis,retinitis pigmentosa, choroideremia, Stargardt s, and achromatopsia. Clinical signs and testing will bereviewed. Focus will be placed on clinically relevant knowledge from genetics research, includinginheritance patterns and visual prognoses.Learning Level: AdvancedLearning Objectives: 1. Recall current genetic therapies for inherited retinal dystrophies. 2. Recall inherited retinal dystrophies that are currently in clinical trials. 3. Identify inherited retinal dystrophies and recognize when additional special testing may benefit diagnosis and clinical management. 4. Reference provided resources to interpret genetic testing results for inherited retinal dystrophies. |
