Description of CE Program/Activity
We are all experiencing something called Community Trauma because of COVID-19 with our own individual struggles, stressors, etc. In addition, staff of any organization providing direct assistance and support for consumers who experience first or secondary trauma as COVID-19 has exacerbated the demands on staff time, the blurring between home and work, and raised levels of anxiety throughout our communities. It s no surprise that many helpers -- both those accustomed to that role and those thrust into it by COVID-19 - are experiencing compassion fatigue at all levels. This webinar, developed for all helpers will explain how chronic stress from experiencing secondary trauma through care-giving can cause Compassion Fatigue. Learn about the symptoms of Compassion Fatigue, participate in skill building, and learn strategies for building resiliency and self-care to better combat burn out, particularly during these challenging times.Instructor: Sophie Godley, Boston University School of Public Health
