While treating clients with low vision, we often focus our attention on the visual system (and rightfully, so). However, we must keep the entire person in "sight". This is an introductory course linking basic low vision rehabilitation treatment strategies to the musculoskeletal system. We will review musculoskeletal "hot spots" that arise in clients with low vision and discuss treatment and prevention, then apply strategies to cases to improve real life implementation. Learning Objectives: 1. Identify at least three musculoskeletal hot spots to keep in mind while addressing the low vision population. 2. Describe strategies to address or prevent musculoskeletal complaints that can arise during low vision rehabilitation treatment. 3. Apply basic postural knowledge and basic ergonomic concepts to low vision cases to improve implementation in real-life caseload. |
