It can be overwhelming to pioneer a program that doesn't exist or take over one that has had a rough start. This presentation will include steps to get started, encouragement to just get it done, and review of a successful program as a primer. Sometimes the best lessons are learned in retrospect so together we will review a challenging environment and use of limited resources to accomplish goals that were unlikely at best and impossible at worst. This course will show you how to jump in to start a program or encourage you to take your existing program to new heights. 1. Identify background information necessary to start a low vision program. 2. Identify the clinical characteristics for the demographics of the intended program they are involved in or initiating. 3. Recall key clinical characteristics of patients with albinism. 4. Recall common and current management strategies for albinism. 5. Describe barriers in the ongoing development and growth of a vision program. 6. Describe steps to grow the capacity of the program. 7. Identify how opportunities to share/promote program information can occur. |
