To best work with LGBTQ youth, adults, and colleagues, it is important to have an understanding of the LGBTQ culture and community. This one-hour training will begin with establishing common language by explaining many of the terms and acronyms used by the LGBTQ community. This will lead into a discussion of the more nuanced parts of the LGBTQ experience and an overview of the research on how LGBTQ children experience various systems of care. The training will end with new information produced by the Division of Human Rights on specific forms of discrimination LGBTQ people are protected from in New York State. |
