Participants will: Reflect on the bio-psycho-social-spiritual aspects of grief and loss Contextualize grief and loss across ecological systems Define and describe grief, anticipatory grief, complex grief, and disenfranchised grief. Explore and apply BASIC ID, Kubler-Ross, and Rando grief frameworks Define, explore, and apply grief work tasks and processesThe presenter is Heath Hightower, ACSW, QCSW, DCSW is a Professor of Practice in Human Services and Rehabilitation Studies at Assumption College in Worcester, MA. He has also taught at the Smith College School for Social Work and the Boston University School of Social Work. Professor Hightower s clinical specialties include the bio-psycho-social concerns of LGBTQI populations affected by depression, anxiety, and trauma. He has presented and co-presented at a variety of local, national, and international conferences including the True Colors Conference, the Boston University School of Social Work Professional Education Program, The Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, The Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, and the World Grief Conference. In 2017, he was awarded a Connecticut State College and University Board of Regents Scholarly Excellence Award for his applied positive psychology research with community college students. |
