Description of CE Program/Activity
Dr. Tanni Anthony from CDE will be with me facilitating this CAER ACVREP offering on the IEP Process. 2 hours will be specific to TVIs/COMS.General information about specific parts of the IEP will include Leading IEP meetings, District and State Testing, Accommodations, and Documenting Paraprofessional Services/Materials Prep. There will also be some general guidelines on information to include in FVAs (Functional Vision Assessment) & LMAs (Learning Media Assessments). However, because this is such a big area of interest, this could be developed in to another training. The primary focus will be two-fold. First, we will share examples of SMART Goals and making a couple weaker examples in to smart goals. Second, we will address the PLAAFP section of the IEP. It is critical to share a student's present level of academic achievement and functional performance to build each child's individual educational plan.We will have some time for Q&A.The 3rd hour is for parents of students with vision loss. We will go through the parts of the IEP, parents' critical role in the IEP process and specifics on specific sections of the IEP for a visual disability including blindness. We will have some time for Q&A.
