Description of CE Program/Activity
Erica Ihrke, Manager of Extended Services & COMS at Leader Dogs for the Blind, will be presenting on the following:Most sixteen-year-olds begin to experience independence in mobility with learning to drive. For teens with a significant vision impairment this is not an option. Skills for independent travel are often difficult to accomplish for school-aged individuals with the demands of classroom work, extra-curricular activities and more. An exploration into the options that are available will include the prerequisite skills needed for guide dog travel, free program opportunities at Leader Dogs for the Blind that will help your students explore their options and how to work with clients with guide dogs.
