Description of CE Program/Activity
This lecture will explain the different types of scotomas along with their signs and symptoms that maybe be encountered in daily practice. Simple diagnostic testing using typical office exam equipment will be discussed. A strategy for determining the best func-tioning eye and suggested rehabilitation techniques will be covered along with a comparison to techniques used in Vision Therapy. 1. Describe characteristics of two types of common scotoma. 2. Discuss diagnostic testing for detecting the type and location of scotomas and determine the Eccentric Viewing direction. 3. Suggested training techniques for developing a useful eccentric viewing position and how this may improve reading performance.
