Description of CE Program/Activity
Visual acuity is the most commonly measured visual parameter and has been so ever since Snellen introduced his chart in 1862. Some regard it as the only measurement that reflects the quality of vision. Others complain that it does not tell us enough. When engaged in vision rehabilitation it behooves us to have more clarity about what we are trying to rehabilitate. This presentation will address many questions in this regard. 1. Describe why Snellen developed his chart and which aspects of vision-related functioning it addresses. 2. Recognize the need and nature of additional assessments that address the limitations of visual acuity measurement. 3. Identify how to use this information in clinical practice.
