Description of CE Program/Activity
The training will look at many aspects involved in this topic, such as sensory hierarchies, environmental adaptations, individual motivators, and postural needs. Looking for the rightquestions in order to get to the right answers, understanding why to assess, what to assess, howto assess, when to assess, and where to assess, and most importantly knowing how to interpretand respond to what you discover, will also be considered. The main emphasis will be onobservational assessment and the ways that approach can be reconciled and melded withinformation from more structured or clinical assessment approaches. Jan Van Dijk s Follow theChild will be the guiding principle.David Brown is a retired Educational Specialist from California Deaf-Blind Services in San Francisco.
