The movie and television viewing experience can be challenging or even unenjoyably for persons who are blind or visually impaired. Audio Description, a feature that provides brief verbal descriptions of important visual scenes or action in a program including facial expressions, costumes and the setting enables viewers who are visually impaired to gain more complete access to the content of movies and TV programs during pauses in the dialog.The Palm Beach Talking Book Library offers residents of the county who are blind or visually impaired many services such as audio described movie showing events, digital talking book players, digital recorded audio books and movies available for checkout.Objectives:1.Participants will learn the definition of audio description and aspects of the feature including movies, television and other content.2.Participants will learn about services provided by The Palm Beach Talking Book Library 3.Participants will learn which networks offer audio described programming4.Participants will have an introduction to the process of accessing audio description within specific applications 5.Participants will learn about the Twenty-First Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010 6.Participants will learn the benefits of audio described programming for persons with visual impairments 7.Participants will learn about the X1 Talking Voice Guidance Feature offered by Comcast 8.Participants will learn about the Audio Describer profession certification that is being developed by ACVREP |
