Description of CE Program/Activity
(This workshop was made possible from a generous grant from Janes Trust)Description: Participants will move toward an advanced understanding of visual complexity and learn to use the Whats the Complexity framework. The goal is for participants to leave this workshop ready to lead the educational team in designing an appropriate school day for a student with CVI. We will explore the various forms of visual complexity in depth and consider the associated difficulties for students with CVI, particularly those functioning in Phase II and Phase III. We will also discuss strategies for managing the complexity of materials and the instructional environment. There will be a special emphasis on The CVI Range characteristic, difficulty with complexity of objects, and we will explore a system for assessing the interpretation of images for students with CVI. Through a video case study of a student with CVI, participants will gain hands on practice using Whats the Complexity. As a group we will complete a finished version, which will go directly to the students team to provide guidance on school programming
