SF State is hosting their first annual goalball exhibition event. Visually impaired (VI)youth are invited to attend with their families, as well as professionals in the VI field who wantto contribute to a vibrant community event. An exhibition game will include players from UCBerkeley and the U.S. Paralympic Goalball teams. The event is meant to showcase theintersection of sport and disability, with an emphasis on providing an opportunity for VI youthto socialize with peers and for parents to strengthen their relationship as fellow advocates.Breakout sessions after the exhibition game will include two panels: A college student led panelof VI young adults who will discuss their experiences transitioning to college, and a TVI andCOMS panel to share strategies and recommendations for preparing VI youth for successfultransition. The Friends of TVI and O&M nonprofit organization hopes to sponsor ACVREP CEUsfor qualified professionals as well as light refreshments (snacks and water/juice) for eventattendees.Speakers: College Student Panel:o Julie Cabrerao Jeshua Avenoo Ann Kwong Professionals Panel:o Bay area TVIs and COMSLearning Objectives1.
