Description of CE Program/Activity
Visual Impact of Brain Injury and Stroke With special guest speakers: Carolanne Roach, OD and Marlene Snow, MS, OTR/L, SCLV. Brain injury and stroke affect many areas of a patient's life. Vision is not only what you see but how you see it. With 50% of the brain processing vision, it is not surprising that vision is often impacted after a stroke or brain injury. We will be discussing how these impacts can be identified/evaluated and the subsequent treatment/adaptation options.Instruction Level: IntroductoryPrerequisites: NoneLearning Objectives:1.Identify the common visual symptoms occurring after stroke or brain injury.2.Describe how to identify signs of visual problems patients may be unaware of.3.Define basic anatomy of areas that are involved in visual problems after strokes or brain injuries.4.Describe the treatment/adaptations for these different visual problems.
