Registration Information
 VIISA Course I: Early Intervention for Infants and Toddlers and Their Families which covers topics related to the unique needs of infants and toddlers (ages birth through two years) who are visually impaired, including visual development, visual impairment, and orientation and mobility (O&M). The course combines self-studies, homework assignments, and two face-to-face sessions with course instructors.Early intervention and early learning providers may find this course helpful as they serve young children with visual impairments including those transitioning from Part C. The content may also be appropriate for those serving young children whose multiple disabilities include visual impairment. The course is offered at no cost and will be held in Chesterfield, Missouri. Dates: November 8 (half-day), 9, & 10, 2017 March 21 (half-day), 22, & 23, 2018Applications deadline of October 27, 2017. Description of CE Program/Activity
 A course focused on children with vision impairment and their families will be offered by the Missouri School for the Blind through Project VIISA (Vision Impaired In-Service in America), which was developed by the SKI*HI Institute at Utah State University. Applications are now being accepted for Course I, which will be conducted November 8-10, 2017 and March 21-23, 2018. Registration deadline is October 27, 2017.COURSE DESCRIPTIONCourse I: Early Intervention for Infants and Toddlers with Vision Impairment and Their Families.This course will cover topics related to the unique needs of infants and toddlers who are vision impaired, including: vision impairment and effects on learning and development; medical aspects of vision impairment; cortical visual impairment; functional vision assessment; working with families; motor development; orientation and mobility (O&M); use of touch and hearing; interaction with objects (play, cognition, concept development); premature/vulnerable infants; developing the IFSP; and transition from home to center-based preschool.
