Drawing upon 26 years of experience in private practice, I saw an exponential growth in the numbers of low vision patients referred, Ma y, from doctors I did not even know existed! Referrals compound themselves because if we communicate to referrers after we have seen the patient, which clinical findings relate to prescribing for that individual and what specific types of activities of daily living are they having problems with. De-emphasize visual acuity, unless there is a specific field of vision that is germane the world is not black and white!Learning Objectives:1. Identify at least three avenues of referrals of low vision patients.2. Demonstrate the specifics of what verbiage to use in reports to help build an optometric practice.3. Describe how to create referrals based on previous ones. |
