This is a special deep dive training event for Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialists in the Pacific Northwest Region (OR, WA, MT, ID, AK & Hawaii) to refresh their advanced travel skills through direct practice and mentoring from Dr. Robert Wall Emerson. Invited COMS will participate in a pre-workshop webinar and will receive training materials in advance to prepare for the face-to-face weekend in Portland with colleagues.After this travel based refresher participants will be able to: Demonstrate and teach advanced travel techniques from updated Hill and Ponder text Identify their strengths and challenges in their instructional approach Develop a professional plan for building upon instructional strengths Co-teach the advanced cane course at the university level Supervise and support university O&M students in your region Recruit O&M students to PSU s program and the profession broadly |
