Meeting the educational needs of a young child who has a visual impairment requires thoughtful planning and collaboration by a team of professionals. Participants will explore the alignment of the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines and the Expanded Core Curriculum, while developing a repertoire of developmentally appropriate activities for these students. Best practices in early childhood education, as well as best practices in the education of individuals with a vision impairment will be investigated through collaborative activities. Education teams are encouraged to attend together. Participants may include special education teachers, general education teachers, teachers of the visually impaired, orientation and mobility specialists, ECI professionals, and/or speech services professionals. |
