Description of CE Program/Activity
 The BC Vision Teachers Association (BC VTA) and the Provincial Resource Centre for the Visually Impaired (PRCVI) are pleased to present two days of professional learning on Essential Assessments for Students with Visual Impairments. This mini-conference will provide teachers with a refresher on Learning Media Assessment (LMA) and Functional Vision Assessment (FVA) as well as updates and new developments in each of these specialized assessment areas. On Thursday, October 19 - 9:00 am to 3:30 pm (light refreshments at 8:30) Dr. Kim Zebehazy (Associate Professor at UBC) and Darick Wright (Adjunct Professor at U Mass Boston) will present on the process of conducting and reporting on Functional Vision Assessment. FVA tools and strategies will be demonstrated and there will be an opportunity for attendees to share their own tools and procedures. On Friday, October 20 - 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Dr. Cay Holbrook (Professor at UBC) will present on the upcoming third edition of Learning Media Assessment of Students with Visual Impairments: A Resource Guide. Dr. Holbrook will provide an overview of the LMA process and highlight updates to this newest edition.
