Performing a functional vision assessment (FVA) has long been the job of the teacher of students with a visual impairment (TVI) as well as in some districts, a collaborative effort with the orientation and mobility (O&M) specialist. For children with multiple disabilities and who have been identified with CVI, the picture often looks very different. The TVI may work with the child infrequently and the O&M specialist may not even have the child on his/her caseload. A multi-disciplinary approach can improve the FVA process significantly for students with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI).Collaboration ensures the information presented in the FVA is utilized by all the individuals working with the child. |
