Description of CE Program/Activity
Diabetic eye disease refers broadly to ocular changes related to diabetes mellitus which may have significant impact on vision. Diabetic retinopathy remains the leading cause of vision loss and blindness among working-age adults. Regular monitoring, early detection and timely treatment of diabetic retinopathy may significantly reduce the associated morbidity. Extensive historic and ongoing research into diabetic retinopathy over the past 50 years has provided evidence-based guidance for the monitoring and treatment of these patients. This course aims to highlight the diabetic disease burden, particularly with regards to diabetic retinopathy, and to describe the ongoing efforts to establish optimal treatment patterns.
